The Platform

The Platform is short for.. Whatever the Station's name is - some sort of technical jargon that nobody but the Captain bothers to remember.

The Platform is a Resonance Gate Support Platform, stationed at Resonance Gate Olympus - a border gate, connecting [Placeholder] territories to [Placeholder]. A rather standard design as far as spaceborne habitats go - designed by Daedalus, and true to form, rugged and simple. It's there for an equally simple purpose - support the Resonance Gate and profit off the traffic coming through it. The former it accomplishes by employing the services of various contractors - Mars Executive Outcomes, for Security - keeping the Platform civil and the Gate secure incase any unfortunate parties decide to show up. In addition, a team of Daedalus' own Engineering contractors are kept on-site at all times, and what passes for a hospital, staffed by contractors from Aether Pharmaceuticals.

For the purposes of the latter, Priapus Recreational - a somewhat shady, but still reliable company has also set up on the platform - taking charge of the Kitchen, of which it is their duty to feed the staff of the station, and to lure in spacers with the promise of a cooked meal - compared to preservative-loaded travel rations. They also provide entertainment and hotel services - keeping visitors entertained, and making sure said visitors have somewhere to bed down for the duration of their stay - even if that's just a cryopod. Followed by them is Hermes Galactic Freight, the company in charge of logistics - ensuring supply demands are met onboard the station, handling personal supply orders out to the Platform, regulating exports, traffic control - and most notably, the salvage team. Together, the numbers stay green - and The Platform floats another day.

The odd one out of these is Ananke Advanced Technology, who, at first glance, do not contribute to either of these goals. However, their contract with Daedalus serves both of their goals - for Daedalus, Resonance Gate monitoring, for dangerous fluctuations or other anomalies, and the simple convenience of having advanced scientific machinery around. For Ananke, the opportunity to do work further away from the 'core' - for research grants, projects that might want to be kept out of the spotlight, and to send troublesome employees out of the way.

Facilities

The Platform contains an advanced telecommunications network, for clear communication with the Resonance Gate and Sector Control, aswell as any external parties passing by. In addition to the internal relays, it maintains a robust satellite network in near-space, giving those with contracts (or those willing to fork up the credits) an extranet connection, keeping those aboard up to date with the latest happenings in the galaxy.

The Hospital is equipped with generally more advanced equipment than you would see, simply due to the location and opportunities to profit from expensive treatments - including a full genetics suite, experimental cryotherapy, and even a virology lab for dealing with any pathogens that might find their way onboard.
